In Of Mice and Men there are many relationships just like memoir A Long Way Gone. One of the main relationships is Mutualism. In Of Mice and Men they both benefit because Lennie is strong so he helps George on the farm. George is smart so he helps Lennie become smarter. In the book A Long Way Gone the boys all help each other out because they are trying to get to the village without getting killed or captured.
The men are joined by Carlson, another ranch-hand. Carlson asks about Slim’s dog, which has just given birth to nine puppies. Slim said that he drowned four of the puppies immediately because their mother would have been unable to feed them. Carlson said that they should convince Candy to shoot his old, worthless dog and raise one of the pups instead. The triangle rings for dinner, and the men filter out of the bunkhouse, with Lennie suddenly excited by the fact of having a puppy. As George and Lennie prepare to leave, Curley appears again, looking for his wife, and hurries off angrily when they tell him where she went. George expresses his dislike for Curley, and comments that he is afraid he will fight with Curley himself.
"Chris Blake please"
"Yes" "Chris Blake?" "Yes?" "Thank you Chris, this is Christine Brown from Coors Light, how are you today?" "Fine, and how are you?" "Great, thank you for asking... PAUSE" "The reason for the call today Chris, as you may be aware is that Coors Light has recently developed an idea designed to save your time, save your money, and help you to get best out of your alcohol. Its for people like you and we'll be happy to drop by and give you the opportunity of seeing it. Would you like to meet up?" "Yes i'll be there" "Fine, I look forward to seeing you tomorrow" The main character in the book is Ishmael. Ishmael has met many people so far because he is being chased by rebels so he was chased through many towns and villages. Because of him being chased he has met many people so far. He had many Amensalism relationships in this book. At many of the villages they would capture him and "teach him a lesson" because the villagers mistaked him as a rebel. At one village they made him walk across the hot sand with no sandals on.
In A Rose for Emily, Emily is faced with many symbiotic relationships. One of the relationships in this article is commensalism. Commensalism is where one person or organism or person benefits and the other organism or person is not affected or doesn't benefit. Another symbiotic relationship that is shown in A Rose for Emily would be Mutualism. Mutualism is where 2 organisms or people are in a good relationship and they both benefit from it.
Person vs. Person
The conflict in this book is Ishmael vs. the rebels. The rebels are chasing Ishmael’s group and many others through villages and towns trying to kill them or capture them. Person vs. Nature In this memoir, Ishmael is a 12 year old boy is inside a jungle after being separated from his parents and his group. Throughout the book he is trying to stay alive by fighting animals, other people, and animals such as snakes. Ishmael was in the woods and got chased by rabid pigs and he almost stepped on a snake. Person vs. Society Ishmael is having a hard time getting food and a place to stay. As he goes around to different villages with his group of kids, the villagers won’t let them in because they are mistaking them for rebels. Some villagers would capture the kids and make them run across hot sand with no shoes on. The best kind of relationship is Mutualism. Mutualism is where 2 or more organism are in a relationship where they both benefit from each other. Commensalism is also a good relationship but not as good. Commensalism is where one organism benefits and and the other is not affected or harmed in the relationship. Amensalism is a bad relationship considering that one organism is affected but the other isn't unharmed but not benefiting.
What are the benefits of having relationships?
With the generation today becoming more and more fickle in terms of relationships and matters of the heart, more people today are alienating themselves from the idea of having a serious relationship and are looking for flings that will just give them momentary pleasure. Whether a relationship is good for you or not, that depends on you only and no one can help you decide what you want in life. We humans are hard-wired for social connection, and we all possess a basic need to belong and to be loved. For many people in today's world, the need to marry young has been trumped by climbing the career ladder, and being in a committed relationship doesn't necessarily mean tying the knot. But despite that, most (but not all) still harbor a strong desire to be in a romantic relationship. How do relationships support our lives? One thing that relationship research has taught us is that good relationships are good for us. Many studies have demonstrated that solid relationships are associated with better health and longer life. In fact, having strong relationships is a better predictor of mortality than any other healthy lifestyle behavior. There are many ways that those we are closest to can help us cope with the stress we face, like job loss, relationship break-up, or illness. Relationships can buffer us from the negative effects of these events by providing comfort, reassurance, or acceptance, or protecting us from some of the negative forces of the stress. But in addition to that comfort and protection, our relationships can strengthen and fortify us against future adversity. In recent years Illinois has enacted teen driving reforms, many of them after the Tribune's "Teens at the Wheel" series in 2006 examined ways that fatalities might be reduced. The state reforms included doubling the number of adult-supervised hours required behind the wheel to get a driver's license and tripling the length of time a new teen driver must possess a learner's permit. Some credit those changes for significant declines in teen driving deaths in the first seven months of this year.
