The main character in the book is Ishmael. Ishmael has met many people so far because he is being chased by rebels so he was chased through many towns and villages. Because of him being chased he has met many people so far. He had many Amensalism relationships in this book. At many of the villages they would capture him and "teach him a lesson" because the villagers mistaked him as a rebel. At one village they made him walk across the hot sand with no sandals on.
In A Rose for Emily, Emily is faced with many symbiotic relationships. One of the relationships in this article is commensalism. Commensalism is where one person or organism or person benefits and the other organism or person is not affected or doesn't benefit. Another symbiotic relationship that is shown in A Rose for Emily would be Mutualism. Mutualism is where 2 organisms or people are in a good relationship and they both benefit from it.
Person vs. Person
The conflict in this book is Ishmael vs. the rebels. The rebels are chasing Ishmael’s group and many others through villages and towns trying to kill them or capture them. Person vs. Nature In this memoir, Ishmael is a 12 year old boy is inside a jungle after being separated from his parents and his group. Throughout the book he is trying to stay alive by fighting animals, other people, and animals such as snakes. Ishmael was in the woods and got chased by rabid pigs and he almost stepped on a snake. Person vs. Society Ishmael is having a hard time getting food and a place to stay. As he goes around to different villages with his group of kids, the villagers won’t let them in because they are mistaking them for rebels. Some villagers would capture the kids and make them run across hot sand with no shoes on. The best kind of relationship is Mutualism. Mutualism is where 2 or more organism are in a relationship where they both benefit from each other. Commensalism is also a good relationship but not as good. Commensalism is where one organism benefits and and the other is not affected or harmed in the relationship. Amensalism is a bad relationship considering that one organism is affected but the other isn't unharmed but not benefiting.
What are the benefits of having relationships?
With the generation today becoming more and more fickle in terms of relationships and matters of the heart, more people today are alienating themselves from the idea of having a serious relationship and are looking for flings that will just give them momentary pleasure. Whether a relationship is good for you or not, that depends on you only and no one can help you decide what you want in life. We humans are hard-wired for social connection, and we all possess a basic need to belong and to be loved. For many people in today's world, the need to marry young has been trumped by climbing the career ladder, and being in a committed relationship doesn't necessarily mean tying the knot. But despite that, most (but not all) still harbor a strong desire to be in a romantic relationship. How do relationships support our lives? One thing that relationship research has taught us is that good relationships are good for us. Many studies have demonstrated that solid relationships are associated with better health and longer life. In fact, having strong relationships is a better predictor of mortality than any other healthy lifestyle behavior. There are many ways that those we are closest to can help us cope with the stress we face, like job loss, relationship break-up, or illness. Relationships can buffer us from the negative effects of these events by providing comfort, reassurance, or acceptance, or protecting us from some of the negative forces of the stress. But in addition to that comfort and protection, our relationships can strengthen and fortify us against future adversity. |
