I am doing my essay on Michael Jordan and Lebron James.
A comparative essay is paper that compares and contrasts two or more things. The first thing that you have to do is analyze the question. You need to do some research and makes sure you have complete understanding of the things you are comparing. Doing research on the topics will help you when you start writing your essay. Then you need to write your introduction to start your essay. Start your intro with a basic or general point that establishes the similarity between the two topics you are comparing. Then you need to write about the specific point of the essay. The reader needs to be able to which points you are examining and the points you won’t be examining. At the end of the intro you need to state your preference of the two topics. After you finish the intro you need to organize the sequence of your main body paragraphs. Organize the way that would make sense the most. After you finish the body paragraphs of your essay you need to write a conclusion. The conclusion should give a brief, general summary of the most important differences and similarities. The essay should end with a personal statement. The essay should the reader feeling that all the threads of the essay have been drawn together in a cohesive way. It should also make the reader feel like they have learned something and that the essay is over. Finally after you finish the essay you should revise it. If time is not a factor you should leave your essay and not work on it for a day. Once you start revising you should remember that the two most important things to do when revising are to find problems and fix them. You should find all of the problems first and then fix them all. It’s not good to do these at the same time. It ensures that you have found all of the mistakes. You need to make sure that you have answered the question and don’t repeat yourself.
How was my participation in the learning process this week? My participation was good this week but it could have been better. We are reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and we have had to do four assignments so far. My group hasn't done anything with the assignments except for me. I finished two of the four but still have to do two of them. My participation was good but my groups isn't well. What were the main ideas we learned this past week? This week and a couple days last week we started to write our group essay that connected to our individuality question. I learned that when you write an essay you need to start a paragraph by saying some broad ideas about the topic and then get to the main ideas of the paragraph. Then after you say the main ideas you should say more about the topic. An example of this would be a hamburger. First you have the Top bun, then the burger , and finally the bottom bun.
What were the main ideas we learned this past week? We finished The Crucible in class yesterday. The main ideas we have learned are the power of the individual. In class we are looking through the books and our I saw, I thought pages to find quotes that connect to our question. My groups question is, What is the importance of individuality? We found a couple quotes yesterday and we are going to have to find more today. How was my participation in the learning process this week? I thought that my participation this week was very good. We started reading The Crucible and I have the part of John Proctor. I have had to read quite a bit so far which has been a big part in my participation for the week. I have also shared my answers during the music connections work sheet. I think that my participation can do a little better but I think that it has been great this week.
How was my participation in the learning process this week? The first week of English was fairly easy considering that we were just learning the routine. My participation in the learning process this week was good. I followed all of the directions for week one and completed everything that was asked of me too do. On the first day when we were setting up our Weebly site I fell behind trying to set up a Google account. Luckily I asked Eric and he helped me out on what to do. When we had to write the You as a Reader/You as a Writer we were asked to write 300 words. I only wrote about to 290 so I didn't put in full participation. I could have tried a little harder to write 10 more words. |
